"Merlot" is able to navigate the Canal du Nivernais and Canal du Midi with wheelhouse up in French canals and will pass under the Osney bridge in the UK. The present very reasonably priced mooring is  also available in a charming French town with permission of the Harbour Master. Please note that the Owner is keen to sell therfore will discuss the asking price  with any serious  buyer.

Please note that I hae 2 Sagar built barges for sale in Northern France and it is possible to visit both in one day. Although in different cities they are both about 80 mins drive from Calais

General Description:


Forward bedroom – en-suite shower/toilet, pocket sprung mattress on purpose built steel frame with beech sprung base. Bed head, under bed drawer and storage space. Drawers and cupboards 


Stern bedroom – en-suite shower/toilet, two full size berths with storage drawers and wardrobe space. Bedside shelf and drawer unit (removable to access weed hatch and emergency steering) 


Oil fired Webasto Thermo 90 central heating boiler complete with both time switch and thermostat control, radiators to all rooms, kick space heater in wheelhouse.   Also a diesel stove in sitting room on base tray with stainless steel fender, fitted back panels, stainless steel surround


Galley – free standing 4 burner hob with grill and single oven, canopy with extractor fan. microwave, white enamel “butler” sink and drainer with monobloc mixing tap. Natural acrylic stone work surface with back upstand. Full height 24v larder fridge (Pull-out chest freezer is under seating in wheelhouse). Galley storage units and drawers. Top storage cupboards


Sitting room / saloon – Large corner TV cabinet and set of side cupboards to starboard. Small corner cabinet to port. Two generous free standing (Multiyork) sofas giving the option of further sleeping accommodation.  Breakfast bar / table / desk with two high chairs.  Diesel Harworth Belfort bubble stove

Wheelhouse: Spacious with good all round visibility, fully collapsible.   Doors to both port and starboard, glazed in lightly tinted toughened glass with electric windscreen wiper. Fully upholstered curved back seating units with lockers under, (plus drop-down seating sections with additional upholstery for same to form additional seating when required). Kickspace heater.  Iroko coffee tables. Also larger iroko coffee tables with drop leaf section to each side table, which are stored behind a sitting room sofa

Electrics – 24 volt system with 90amp high output alternator to domestic battery bank. Horn, spotlight, circuit breaker panel, bilge pump to stern gland with float switch and shower pumps to overboard discharge. Water pressure pump. 230 volt installation with shore supply, Isolator transformer MCB and RCD distribution panel to ring main and 13amp double brass sockets. Immersion heater into calorifier tank with thermostatic controls


Batteries: Starter & gen starter 1(each) x 110 Amp @ 12 volts: Domestic bank 6 x 12v Exide ES1600 gel batteries  January 2018 =  420 Amp @ 24 volts
